SPAplus Automated Analyzer for Specialist Protein Analysis
The SPAplus is a fully automated, high throughput, easy-to-use, table top, turbidimetric protein analyzerfor serum, plasma and urine assays including Freelite®, IgG subclasses, IgA subclasses, IgG, IgA, IgM, IgD, Cystatin C, C3, C4, β2 Microglobulin and an expanding range of new assays under development.
The flexibility and versatility of the SPAplus System and its compact design make it an ideal companion analyzer to your automated chemistry line as well as your special chemistry testing.

Rapid results: Time to first result in just 15 minutes; subsequent results every 30 seconds.

Auto-dilution: Identifies samples that are outside the measuring range, and automatically runs them at a higher to lower dilution, as required.

Ready-to-Use barcoded reagents: Eliminate the need for pouring into secondary containers. Easy automatic ID and registration.

On-board reagent cooling: Ensures reagent stability without the need to transfer reagents in and out of the refrigerator.

Intelligent cuvette wash system: 10-step acid/alkali/hot water wash results in excellent precision and assay performance, especially for latex assays.

Automatic cuvette monitoring: Measures the blank optical density of each individual cuvette indicating when it is time to change them.

Automatic antigen excess (prozone) check: Monitors the reaction kinetics and runs that sample at a higher dilution when reaction profile is indicative of antigen excess, for applicable assays.

Air mixing: Eliminates carry-over.

Easy loading and unloading with primary tube sample tray.

Intuitive Windows®-based software makes it easy to set up the run and walk away.

Fully integrate bi-directional RS232 interface capability.

Minimal hands-on daily maintenance (less than 10 minutes per day) allows quick and easy start up and shut down.

Regional Medical Laboratory in Tulsa, Oklahoma uses SPAPLUS to run its Freelite® assays.

"The serum free light chain study is a truly quantitative study, and it is generally easier to interpret than serum protein electrophoresis and serum immunofixation studies.

In most instances the serum free light chain test has obviated the need for urine protein electrophoresis and urine immunofixation studies.

The SPA has been able to handle smaller pipetting volumes, and it has provided greater consistency in the reporting of the serum free light chain results than our previous platform."
