Quality Assurance Scheme for free light chain analysis
It is essential that all laboratories participate in external quality control schemes when performing monoclonal protein analysis.
Binding Site IMMPROVE™ Serum Paraprotein QA Scheme - QA 003
Around 300 laboratories worldwide participate in the Serum Paraprotein scheme currently. Methodologies include Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPE), Immunofixation Electrophoresis (IFE) and a large range of nephelometric and turbidimetric Freelite® free light chain assays. Laboratories are able to return quantitative results for the analysis of IgG, IgA, IgM, B2 microglobulin, Freelite free kappa, free lambda and determination of the free kappa/lambda ratio.
Freelite® serum free light chain analysis
Four samples are issued per year and results can be returned via the IMMPROVE website. A comprehensive report is returned to each laboratory and includes photocopies of electrophoresis gels, comparisons with other laboratories' results and an expert opinion regarding the sample and results.
Example results are shown for the serum sample in QA003 distribution number 111.
