Environmental

Binding Site's environmental policy outlines our commitment to limiting the overall impact our processes have on the environment.

The new UK headquarters has a range of sustainable features and a BREEAM* rating of ‘Excellent’. It was built with a focus on key issues such as energy and water consumption, pollution, the protection of local ecology and has provisions for rainwater harvesting.

The building meets strict carbon emission restrictions and has solar controlled glass to minimise heat gains, while ensuring natural levels of daylight. There are over 40 bicycle racks and a variety of local public transport links so that employees can choose to limit their damage to the environment when travelling to and from work.

Everyone at Binding Site headquarters is trained in our Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Policy, which involves:
  • Using recycled paper sources for packaging and promotional literature.
  • A paperless document control system.
  • Recycling all paper, including junk mail and magazines.
  • Recycling bottles and bags wherever possible.
  • Providing drinking water as tap water through cooled filtration system.
  • Providing recyclable paper drinking cups.
  • Turning off non-critical equipment each night and using timers to control production processes.
  • Installation of new printers which automatically switch off when they are not in use.

* BREEAM (Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) is the world’s most widely used means of reviewing the environmental performance of buildings and is regarded as the measure of best practice in environmental design and management.
