Innovation driven by purpose

Behind every breakthrough at Thermo Fisher are our four 'I' values: integrity, intensity, innovation, and involvement, forming the foundation of our culture and addressing some of the world's greatest challenges. Through innovation, our colleagues are encouraged and inspired to find a better way every day.

Thermo Fisher's dedication to innovation is evident in our drive to unlock the potential of what can be achieved across diverse communities spanning hospitals, research centers, and laboratories. Our work supports those at the forefront of developing groundbreaking therapies, enhancing both our understanding and treatment of diseases, including cancer and Alzheimer's disease, from broad-spectrum treatments to precision medicine.

Our commitment is reflected in our success stories and in our Mission: to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

Innovating to save lives

Regaining independence through a novel therapy

Following his accident, Jake’s doctors weren’t confident that he would ever regain full mobility and motor function in his hands. With his options looking grim, there was one final treatment option: EPIFIX®, a placenta-derived skin substitute that can be applied directly to skin wounds, acting as a "living bandage" that supports the healing cascade.

An urgent need to improve global maternal health

Last year, Thermo Fisher developed and launched the industry's first, FDA-cleared blood test to help determine a pregnant woman’s risk of developing preeclampsia with severe features. With this dangerous condition on the rise for hundreds of thousands of women, it's critical to offer groundbreaking tools to help save the lives of both mothers and babies.

Gideon and his family find hope in CAR T cell therapy

Gideon was a perfect candidate for a novel treatment for pediatric cancer patients that uses Dynabeads™, small magnetic beads, to select T Cells from a patient’s blood and enable them to be replicated and programmed to be put back into the patient’s body, where they attack the cancer cells. The therapy was a resounding success.

Revolutionizing molecule analysis

The Thermo Scientific™ Orbitrap™ Astral™ mass spectrometer is a state-of-the-art instrument that delivers rapid, comprehensive analyses with exceptional precision. This mass spectrometer is akin to a super-high-resolution scale, capable of weighing the mass of the smallest compounds such as of proteins. This is important as over 95% of all known drugs interact with proteins¹. Researchers can use this information to identify new clinical biomarkers, reveal diseases earlier and develop new interventions for everything from cardiovascular disease to cancer.

The Orbitrap Astral mass spectrometer's capability to identify the composition of these molecules, even within complex mixtures, sets it apart from the competition, deliver up to two times deeper proteome coverage and up to four times more throughput compared to current mass spectrometers.

Innovating for a better tomorrow

Solving for a greener future

Our customer, Koppert, was looking for a more sustainable method to ship live, biological crop protection – one that didn’t compromise on quality. Thermo Fisher developed a solution in the form of the paper cooler, a fully curbside-recyclable, 100% paper-based container for shipping temperature sensitive products with minimal waste.

A pioneering partnership with HBCUs

At the height of the pandemic, Thermo Fisher had developed a plan to implement protocols, named after pioneering Black biologist Ernest Everett Just, Ph.D., that would allow HBCUs to reopen by providing COVID-19 testing and embodying Thermo Fisher’s four values: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement.

Life undiscovered

Geomicrobiologist Dr. Brandi Kiel Reese has dedicated her life to testing, researching and analyzing microbes. By using Thermo Fisher digital PCR to study microbes unlocked from the bottom of the sea floor, she is improving our knowledge of genetic processes, better understanding the impact of climate change, and more.

Precision medicine

Thermo Fisher aims to transform healthcare into a more personalized approach through revolutionizing precision medicine offerings.

We support advancements in diagnostics and treatments tailored to individual, clinical, molecular, and lifestyle data, offering a broad spectrum of services in population profiling, translational research, molecular diagnostics, and targeted therapeutics development.

By leveraging our extensive global resources and expertise, we're helping medicine move from a "one-size-fits-most" approach to specialized, individualized care.
