Description

The successful candidate will be a qualified, professional statistician, who is required to lead the analysis of clinical diagnostic and survival studies. The analysis must be of the appropriate standard for publication in top bio/medical journals and for submission to regulatory authorities. Advice on the design of prospective studies will also be required. Effective team working with regulatory affairs specialists, R&D scientists and clinical researchers will be necessary.
Additional duties will include statistical guidance on suitable quality control and quality assurance protocols in the production of medical diagnostic devices.

Essential skills required are:

  • Maths or Statistics BSc/MSc or PhD or equivalent in applied statistics/medical statistics or other relevant subject with high statistical content
  • Experience of Statistical Analysis for Clinical Trials within Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology/Public Health setting in Industry, Government or Academia
  • Experience of statistical project planning and project management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate statistical information effectively (written and oral)
  • Good team worker

Desirable skills are:

  • Specific experience of survival analysis
  • Experience of preparing results for presentation

Description

The successful candidate will be a Grade B clinical scientist who will be responsible for the handling, organisation, analysis and storage of biological samples in a variety of clinical studies. Description

The successful candidate will be involved in providing safe assayed plasma delivered products, internally and for bulk sale. They will need to be familiar with all company systems and regulations, including LINE 500, Q Pulse, QA & RA and employ them as required. Also they will write, review and update worksheets, PMPs and GEN SOPS. The role will include dealing with complaints and CAPA's as appropriate, to be the point of contact for internal customers and to aim towards process improvement in all aspects of their work. More than 100 peer reviewed papers were published in 2009 alone on the utility and expanding application of free lite chain (FLC) assay. The FLC assay and the associated ĸ/λ ratio provide important clinical information for diagnosis and monitoring of monoclonal gammopathies. The company maintains a dedicated website on FLCs (wikilite.com) which supports ongoing education in the field and incorporates data on the continuously increasing number of applications of this important assay. A scientific writer is required to oversee and update this site on a continuous basis in line with new understandings and publications in the field. In addition a hard copy version is expected to be published on a regular basis. The role will include capturing all publications in the field on an ongoing basis and incorporate relevant aspects into the wikilite site. Through fulfilling this role the successful candidate will have an opportunity to support the UK scientific affairs managers and capture feedback from all international technical directors.
Essential skills required are:

  • A relevant PhD (or equivalent)
  • A good relevant science degree (or equivalent)
